FDP on “AI in Education”

On November 20, 2024, The Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indore, recently organised an impactful Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “AI in Education”, led by Mr. Shiva Kakkar, Vice President of AI Initiatives at the institute. A renowned expert in Generative AI and its applications in education, Mr Kakkar has an impressive teaching background at premier institutions like XLRI and IIM Nagpur. The session commenced with a warm introduction and the presentation of a Green Certificate to Mr. Kakkar by the Dean of Academics and the Professor of Marketing Dr. Romi Sainy.

The program explored various facets of AI’s role in transforming education. It included sessions on AI-driven learning strategies, interactive pedagogy using game-based techniques, and applications of Generative AI tools like GPT-4 for content creation. Mr. Kakkar also demonstrated the use of finance models, such as the Fama-French and Three-Factor Models, for analyzing historical stock data. Other highlights included AI techniques for email marketing, machine learning applications using Naïve Bayes Classifier and SMOTE, and Python-based decision tree recommendations from OpenAI’s Cookbook.

The program also emphasized the importance of academic integrity in AI-driven assessments and introduced metacognitive strategies to enhance self-awareness and learning. The interactive format, enriched with games and discussions, kept participants engaged throughout. Faculty members left the session inspired, and equipped with practical AI tools and techniques to integrate into their teaching methodologies.
