On September 07, 2024, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow celebrated its 29th Foundation Day. Dr. Kavita Pathak-Director Jaipuria Lucknow, Dr. Anubhav Mishra-Dean Research, Dr. Rashmi Chaudhary-Dean Student Affairs, Chief Guest of the program Mr. Nilesh Kesarwani, VP Sales - Vodafone Idea Ltd. and Guest of Honour of the program Mr. Somit Chitre, Global Head WRB Lending & Application Fraud Risk, Standard Chartered Bank inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Mr. Kesarwani and Mr. Chitre are also alumni of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow from batch of 1995-1997 and 2002-2004 respectivey.
A key cultural highlight of the day was the mesmerizing Dastan-e-Jaan-e-Aalam, an internationally acclaimed “Dastangoi”, an storytelling performance on Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh. The performance, led by Dr. Himanshu Bajpai and Dr. Pragya Sharma, left the audience enthralled as they narrated the poignant story of the cultural icon.
This dastangoi was an ode to Wajid Ali Shah, the last nawab of Awadh, who was known to be one of the greatest patron of art, culture and creativity. This dastan reflected upon the fact that he was not merely a monarch but a visionary leader who championed the arts and made constant efforts to ensure peace in his region amidst the tumult of his times.
Mr. Neelesh Keserwani Vice President - Sales, Vodafone Idea Ltd., also an alumnus of the founding batch of 1995-97 was the Chief Guest of the event.
He shared memories of his student life in his address and also told how the education received from Jaipuria Lucknow and the behaviour developed through it always guided him. In his address, Mr. Kesarwani also highlighted the importance of continuous learning. He said that we should always remain curious towards new developments to keep moving forward. Mr. Kesarwani also said that in today's world where nothing is permanent except change, we should always keep preparing ourselves for change. If we do not prepare ourselves for upcoming changes, then we will get lost somewhere in the crowd or will become a history in the professional world. To prepare for change, we first have to develop the ability to learn fast while keeping a positive attitude towards change. Mr. Kesarwani said that all these qualities will become a factor of success only when we are humble. Without humility, all these qualities become useless and are unable to contribute to our success. If you want everyone's support and want to keep moving ahead rapidly, then you should be humble. This quality will prove to be helpful in achieving success not only in professional life but also in personal and social life.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Somit Chitrey, Global Head WRB Lending and Application Fraud Risk at Standard Chartered Bank and also an alumnus from Batch of 2002-04, emphasized several important principles for success. He highlighted the need for continuous hard work and smart effort, reminding us that consistent perseverance is key. He also stressed the value of communication skills in the corporate world, noting that effective communication, along with proper dressing and etiquette, leaves a lasting impression. Developing strong communication is essential for advancing to higher levels in one's career. Additionally, Mr. Chitrey advocated for a structured thinking approach, maintaining a positive attitude towards change, and staying adaptable by constantly updating one's knowledge and skills. He also encouraged showing gratitude to everyone who plays a role in our lives, irrespective of their position, and anyone who contributes to your growth.
Dr. Kavita Pathak, Director-Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow presented a very interesting description of the 29 years’ journey of the Institute. In her address, Dr. Pathak spoke about the various achievements made by the Institute and also highlighted the contribution of the members of the Institute in achieving those achievements. “From our humble beginnings with just two rooms, we've grown tremendously thanks to the vision of our founder, Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria. Be the confidence builder for yourself and your team Let’s keep growing”.
One of the central attractions of the celebration was the felicitation of key stakeholders, including recruiters, Management Development Programme (MDP) clients, Alumni Association, and entrepreneurs for their invaluable contribution. The ceremony also saw the recognition of academic excellence, with meritorious students awarded for their outstanding performance in various programs.
The Foundation Day celebration comes at a time when Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, has made remarkable strides in its academic journey. Recently, the institute achieved a commendable jump in the NIRF 2024 rankings, securing the 72nd position among India’s top B-schools, a significant improvement from its previous rank of 92. This milestone, coupled with the institute’s NAAC A+ accreditation, further reinforces Jaipuria Lucknow’s position as a leader in management education.
