Wisdom From Alumni- Business Analytics

The Wisdom From Alumni session was organised by the Alumni Relations Committee (ARC) on 25th August 2026, featuring Mr. Vaibhav Mathur, an alumnus of the 2015–2017 batch and currently serving as Credit Manager at Axis Bank. The session was conducted under the Business Analytics domain, providing students with practical insights into the application of analytics and technology in the banking industry.

Mr. Mathur shared his professional experiences and discussed how Business Analytics has transformed banking and credit processes, moving from traditional manual approaches towards data-driven, technology-enabled and AI-supported decision-making. He highlighted the importance of understanding ground realities along with data, as customer behaviour, local market conditions and operational challenges can significantly influence business outcomes.

The session also focused on the role of data and analytics in credit assessment, including the analysis of financial statements, GST information, sales trends, customer data and credit risk. Mr. Mathur discussed the growing use of AI and automation in credit appraisal, document verification and fraud detection, while emphasising that analytical tools should complement human judgement and domain knowledge.

He further highlighted the importance of developing practical skills in Excel, Power BI and AI-based tools, while encouraging students to focus beyond technical tools and develop the ability to understand business problems, validate data and convert information into actionable business insights.

The session provided students with valuable industry exposure and a practical understanding of how Business Analytics is applied in the banking sector. It reinforced the importance of combining technical skills, domain knowledge, critical thinking and real-world understanding to build successful careers in Business Analytics.
