HR Conclave 2024: Innovation in HR: Systems, Policies and Practices

On 20th September 2024, HR Area of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, successfully organized HR Conclave 2024, focusing on the theme “Innovation in HR Systems, Policies, and Practices”. The event brought together industry experts, HR professionals, and students to explore how technology and artificial intelligence revolutionize HR practices.

 

Guests of the event were, Ms. Jamal Jafri (Zonal HR Manager: Cipla, New Delhi; Alumni - Batch 2009-11), Mr. Nitin Jha (Senior HR Manager: Tata Steel, Jamshedpur), Ms. Shweta Govila (Talent Acquisition and HR Manager: Paytm, New Delhi), Mr. Tarun Girdhar (Senior Manager: Global Talent Development - Zscaler, Chandigarh) and Mr. Vinay Dalal (Co-founder - Talbrum (HRIS/HR Tech / Ex-HR Head - Reliance Retail, Indore).

 

The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. Kavita Pathak (Director), Dr. Sushma Vishnani (Dean Academics & Professor: Finance & Accounts Area), Dr. Anjali Tiwari (Assistant Professor: HR & OB Area), Dr. Manisha Seth (Associate Professor: HR & OB Area), Dr. Nilesh Tiwari (Assistant Professor: HR & OB Area), Dr. Nishtha Malik (Associate Professor: HR & OB Area) and Dr. Pallavi Srivastava (Associate Professor: HR & OB Area). 

 

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Vijaylakshmi Singh (Chairperson: HR & OB Area). It was well coordinated by Mr. Rachit Diwaker (Student Coordinator: Domain Forum Committee - HR) and Ms. Arti Yadav (Senior Member: Domain Forum Committee – HR). The event saw volunteering of Junior Representatives from Domain Forum Committee, who were as follows: Mr. Gautam Tolani, Ms. Nitya Agarwal, Ms. Samiya Aijaz, Ms. Shreya Srivastava, and Ms. Vaishnavi Singh Solanki.

 

The conclave commenced with Theme Initiation by Mr. Rachit Diwaker.

 

Dr. Kavita Pathak greeted the distinguished panelists and students with a welcome address. In her address, she emphasized the evolving role of HR professionals in today’s dynamic business environment. She highlighted how HR has transitioned from traditional practices to more innovative solutions that integrate talent acquisition, emotional intelligence, and advanced technology. “All business is people business,” she remarked, stressing HR's crucial role in driving organizational success.

 

The event proceeded further with the panel discussion on the theme “Innovation in HR Systems”, moderated by Mr. Sagar Shukla (Vice - President: Student Development Council – 2024). The discussion focused on the future of work and the rapidly changing role of HR in shaping workplaces by 2030. The panel featured industry leaders who shared their unique insights.

 

The Panel discussion started with Mr. Vinay Dalal who envisioned a future where artificial intelligence would become integral to everyday office functions, with robots welcoming employees, adjusting room temperatures, and even serving tea. He also further emphasized that HR is 60% heart and 40% data, meaning that one should always be inclined toward human feelings and emotions. 

 

Mr. Tarun Girdhar pointed out that many of the trends predicted in 2020 have already become a reality, underscoring the rapid pace of technological advancement.

 

Further, Ms. Jamal Jafri shared her personal experiences with the shift towards work-from-home arrangements, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that come with automated data processes. He further highlighted that doing one’s work in an agile manner is more important

 

Mr. Nitin Jha discussed the flexibility in work arrangements, including hybrid work models and the development of digital twins—virtual replicas of manufacturing plants.

 

Ms. Shweta Govila concluded the discussion by emphasizing the need for both HR professionals and employees to adapt to the evolving workplace, particularly in the age of AI. She emphasized the Out of Box thinking by HR professionals through practices like “Focus Groups”, which could increase employee engagement and productivity. She further highlighted that Engagement and Employee Experience involve a lot of collaboration.

 

The Panel discussion concluded with an interactive Q&A session where the audience engaged with the panelists, sharing their perspectives and gaining valuable insights into the future of HR.Following the panel discussion, a Kahoot quiz was conducted to test the students on key points discussed during the session.

 

This interactive activity encouraged active listening and reinforced the insights shared by the panelists. Additionally, a Cultural Skit focused on the challenges faced by gig workers, offering a reflective view of the emerging gig economy and the struggles faced by those in non-traditional employment roles.

The HR Conclave 2024 concluded on a high note with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Vijaylakshmi Singh, where she thanked all the esteemed guests for providing such wonderful insights. The Conclave offered a platform for deep discussions on the future of HR systems while fostering student creativity and participation. The event ended with the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the esteemed panelists, marking the end of a day filled with learning, innovation, and inspiration.
