Having completed his school from St. Anslem’s North City School and his graduation from SS Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur, Akshat Jhalani also interned with Naya Sawera, in the capacity of a programme coordinator for a period of six months. Jhalani had always wanted to do an MBA after his graduation so after long hours of research and information about Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur, from a friend, Jaipuria, Jaipur became his institute of choice.

“The best thing about Jaipuria, Jaipur is their 100 per cent placement record and its location in my home town,” he says adding that before he joined the Institute he was slightly nervous of interacting with people he did not know. “But,” as he says, “the induction programme of 15 days helped me a lot and provided me with a platform where I got to interact with a variety of people. During the induction I participated in many activities especially in the arena of drama, which actually helped me overcome my stage fright. I was selected as class representative as well and this brought out the leadership qualities in me.”

During the first three trimesters of his life at Jaipuria, Jaipur, this young man worked on ‘live’ projects at the lifestyle store of the Landmark Group. “This experience assisted me a great deal and taught me not only how to handle customers but also how to communicate with them,” he says adding, “before joining Jaipuria, Jaipur I was not good at communication and lacked presentation skills. Today, I can proudly say that these are my areas of strength.” Jhalani gives full credit to the faculty for their painstaking effort in helping students live up to their true potential. “The faculty at Jaipuria, Jaipur is the best,” he says. “They know how to help students who are unsure about their potential and they know how to facilitate students overcome their shortcomings.”

Says faculty member Dr Lokesh Vijayvargy, “Akshat is a very hardworking and bright student and he actively participates in various academic and extra-curricular activities. He has made an immense effort in writing the two research papers which he presented at IIT Madas and GD Goenka university. His enthusiasm is infectious. I feel proud that I play a supervisory role in his growth.”

Jhalani’s journey at Jaipuria, Jaipur saw him make a whole load of friends and take part in a host of extracurricular activities. “Life here is not only about academics. I coordinated many events like Abhyudaya which is our Annual Fest and at the national level Sports Meet I received a memento. I also coordinated the 3rd National Youth Conference,” he says. But the highlight of his time at Jaipuria, Jaipur was when he presented his paper at the 3rd International Conference on Management — GDGU ICON 2016 held at GD Goenka University, Gurgaon. “My topic was entitled, ‘The Investigation of Influencing Factors for Green Consumerism: a case of Rajasthan’ and my paper was selected for publication in the GD Goenka Business Review issue (Vol.2, No.1, Jan-Jun 2016). Only six out of 100 papers were selected for this journal and one of them was mine!” he says proudly.

Jhalani gives full credit to his parents whom he says “helped me a lot especially my father who helped me take the right decisions at every point of time when I was confused.” This spirited Cancer who is an active member of the Media Relations Club and Corporate Social Responsibility Committee at Jaipuria, Jaipur has learnt the art of being a team player. “During the E-Week, my team won first prize in the wall painting competition,” he says.

The young man, whose interests range from listening to soft music, travelling to new places across world and playing badminton and cricket, “which is the love of my life.” He also loves spending time with his friends. Says Arti Kanodia, “Akshat is very good friend of mine. He is a fun loving person. He is always eager to help everyone and anyone. In the past one year that I have known him he has improved a lot in all aspects like communication, presentation, etc. He is also very hardworking and does his work with utter dedication. He always motivates everyone around him.” Adds Upasana Manglunia, “He is that special someone who, with a simple text, can make you laugh out loud in a room full of quiet people. “

Jhalani whose dissertation was on the ‘Study of the Housing Finance Market – A case of Rajasthan’, is doing his summer internship, working in the finance department at Shri Ram Housing Finance. This he says has been a huge learning experience for him. “In the past month I have learnt many things about the competition as well as the growth of business in the housing finance market. The internship has helped me increase my domain knowledge and given me a corporate experience which will definitely help in my placement,” he says.

Every day at Jaipuria brings new learning methodologies explains Jhalani — “Every day is a new day for me because I learn something new every moment – that is Jaipuria, Jaipur experience!”
